BBC Media Action Welcomes Imagen as Corporate Partner

Date: November 14, 2016

London, UK - 14 November, 2016 - Imagen has become a corporate partner of BBC Media Action, the BBC’s international development charity, and joins an elite group of companies helping them to transform lives through media in some of the poorest, hardest-to-reach parts of the world.

Imagen’s award winning Video Platform has been selected by the charity to archive video content across the fragile and conflict-affected societies where they work.

BBC Media Action’s output includes TV and radio dramas, radio discussion and magazine shows, and public service broadcasts designed to help reduce poverty and support people in understanding their rights. Covering themes of Governance, Health, Resilience and Humanitarian response, the charity produces more than 200 hours of video per year and reaches over 200 million people in 28 countries.

The main aim for the project is to implement an online multimedia archive enabling their teams working around the world to easily and efficiently share their editorial content. This large library of media content, aimed at bringing lasting change to people’s lives, will be available to all the charity’s staff through a dedicated Imagen video portal instead of the multiple platforms where they are currently stored.

It will bring their teams closer together and make sharing ideas easier, helping to inspire and inform their future programming. In addition, their business development teams will be better able to find appropriate material to demonstrate their work to potential donors so that they can continue their work.

The site will be branded and customised for BBC Media Action and will enable staff to search the library and access the content anywhere in the world across multiple devices.

David Goldesgeyme, Head of Corporate Partnerships at BBC Media Action, said:

“We very much welcome Imagen’s valuable partnership. Our new digital archive will transform the way we access our content, both in the UK and, more importantly, throughout our 19 country offices.  As a media-based charity, Imagen’s expertise is central to our work and we are delighted to be working with them on this exciting project.”

Charlie Horrell, CEO of Imagen, observed:

“It’s great to hear how Imagen can help improve the lives of so many people – on a global scale. We fully support the work of BBC Media Action and its aims – and as video management specialists it seems appropriate that we can keep this important content safe for the long term and deliver a great experience for users.”

About BBC Media Action

BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. Their overarching goal is to help people make sense of events, engage in dialogue and take action to improve their lives.  They work in partnership with broadcasters, governments, non-governmental organisations and donors to share reliable, timely and useful information. Their projects reached over 200 million people last year and are made up of debate shows, dramas, radio and TV programmes, public service announcements, mobile phone services and face-to-face communication. Since they are not funded by the licence fee, none of this work would be possible without the backing of our generous donors – governments, foundations, corporations and individuals.
