LONDON – March 29 2022 – Imagen, the leading cloud media asset management platform today announced that they have joined the SRT alliance, a collaborative community of industry leaders and developers striving to achieve lower latency internet video transport.
Working with SRT protects against, packet loss, unpredictable networks, and poor security. Ensuring the best quality is delivered directly and safely to Imagen’s video library.
Ingesting live streams to Imagen via SRT removes the lengthy process of recording and uploading files, before tagging content, it also eases the capture of multiple camera angles from live events. Creative teams in fast turnaround production environments can remotely clip from the growing file for edit or publishing to social platforms.
The SRT Alliance, founded by Haivision in April 2017, already has more than 500 members. Its mission is to overcome the challenges of low-latency live streaming by supporting the collaborative development of SRT (Secure Reliable Transport), the fastest growing open source streaming project. SRT is a free open source video transport protocol and technology stack originally developed and pioneered by Haivision, which enables the delivery of high-quality and secure, low-latency video across the public internet.
“We are excited by the opportunity SRT ingest offers to our customers and delighted to join this innovative community”, Tom Blake, Commerical Director, Imagen
“Haivision developed SRT to overcome the challenges of low-latency video streaming, thereby changing the way the world streams,” said Peter Maag, Chief Strategy Officer and EVP of Strategic Partnerships, Haivision. “We’re delighted Imagen are live streaming to their platform via SRT, as it’s a great step to enabling secure, fast, and cost-friendly cloud workflows for those creating live content.”
About The SRT Alliance
The SRT Alliance is a collaborative community of industry leaders and developers striving to achieve lower latency internet video transport by continuously improving SRT, an open source video transport protocol and technology stack. Originally developed and pioneered by Haivision, SRT optimizes streaming performance across unpredictable networks with secure streams and easy firewall traversal, bringing the best quality live video over the worst networks. Haivision was awarded an Emmy® for Technology and Engineering from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for developing the SRT protocol.
